Red Wing, MN (May 9, 2017) An evening of Motown’s greatest hits will be here for you when the Temptations Review and the Four Tops come together at the Island Event Center on Saturday, June 24, 2017.
Dennis Edwards was the first new Temptation to enter the group after their “classic five” heyday ended in 1968. With his rougher gospel vocals, Edwards led the group through its psychedelic, funk and disco periods. Two of the Temptations songs he appears on, “Cloud Nine” and “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” won Grammy Awards. Edwards was the lead singer on many of the other Temptations hits including, “I Can’t Get Next To You,” “Ball of Confusion” “Psychedelic Shack” and “My Girl.”
Edwards has received 7 Grammy Awards, 14 Gold Records and has sold over 100,000,000 records worldwide. He is a skilled and versatile artist and a true legend in the recording industry. Dennis is joined by David Sea, Mike Pattillo, Chris Arnold and Paul Williams Jr in the Temptations Review.
The Four Tops, originally called the Four Aims, made their first single in 1956 and spent seven years on the road singing pop, blues and mostly four-part harmony jazz. Their first Motown hit, “Baby I Need Your Loving” in 1964, made them immediate stars. Their songs, soulful and bittersweet, were across the board successes. Some of their many smash hits include, “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” “It’s The Same Old Song,” “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “Standing In The Shadows Of Love,” “Bernadette,” “Walk Away Renee” and “When She Was My Girl.” They are one of the few bands to have hits in three consecutive decades and with 24 Top 40 hits to their credit, the Four Tops were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
One evening of legendary singing and the enduring Motown sound that you will not want to miss!
