Over the past three decades, the Australian born Rick Springfield has worn many hats as an entertainer and performer. He’s an accomplished actor, author and very talented musician with numerous credits in each category.
As an actor he has had a variety of roles including starring opposite Meryl Streep in the feature film Ricki and the Flash to a recurring role on the TV daytime drama General Hospital. Recently he starred as Vince Vincente, or Lucifer, in the TV show Supernatural. With numerous acting roles to his credit, in 2014 he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Rick is also a talented author – both his 2010 memoir Late, Late at Night and his 2014 comedic novel Magnificent Vibration, earned rave reviews and spots on the esteemed New York Times Best Sellers’ list.
But most people know Rick Springfield for his music. It was at age 11 when he picked up his first guitar and realized he could play. As Rick says, “Some guys fall in love with cars, some with football teams. I fell in love with guitars.” Over the next many years he joined bands and after recording his debut album, Beginnings, he moved to the U.S.
Rick recorded the album, Working Class Dog in 1981 which reached # 7 on the Billboard 200. The hit album spawned the smash single “Jessie’s Girl” which became a worldwide hit and #1 in the U.S. on the Hot 100. The album also earned Springfield a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
Rick had a number of hit singles including, “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “An Affair of the Heart,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Love Somebody” and “Human Touch.” Along with hit singles he has released a number of top albums. In February 2016 he released his 18th studio album, Rocket Science.
