Minnesota PGA and Treasure Island Resort & Casino Partner to Host Inaugural 100 Holes for HOPE

Welch, Minn. (Thursday, April 5)—The Minnesota PGA and its charitable arm, PGA REACH Minnesota, and Treasure Island Resort & Casino in conjunction with the Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs are proud to host the inaugural 100 Holes for HOPE on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Mount Frontenac Golf Course in Frontenac, Minnesota.

The mission is to involve PGA Professionals, military veterans and other golf enthusiasts in a marathon round of 100 holes on the longest day of the year – June 21st. The day will also include golf clinics for veterans and their families as well as a celebration at the conclusion of the day. Proceeds from 100 Holes for HOPE will benefit PGA REACH Minnesota; specifically, its PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program as well as Disabled American Veterans.

“The Minnesota PGA and its professionals are excited to be able to recognize and give back to our nation’s heroes,” said Minnesota PGA CEO Jeffrey Hintz. “We are thrilled to partner with Treasure Island to make this event a reality and help veterans across Minnesota.”

Native Americans serve in the U.S. military in greater numbers than any other ethnic group and the Prairie Island Indian Community, which owns Treasure Island and Mount Frontenac Golf Course is proud to host this inaugural event for veterans.

“Native Americans have honorably served in the military for generations and our sacrifice has been great,” said Prairie Island Indian Community President Shelley Buck. “We are hopeful this event will underscore our care and concern for Native American – and all veterans – who use the game of golf as a therapeutic and healing activity.”

PGA HOPE is the flagship military program of PGA REACH Minnesota. PGA HOPE aims to provide a therapeutic rehabilitation introduction to golf and is readily available to all veterans with physical, emotional and PTSD challenges who would benefit most from such a program. There are currently two PGA HOPE chapters in Minnesota.
