Red Wing, MN (March 20, 2017) Prepare for a night of musical artistry when George Benson and Kenny G perform at Treasure Island Resort & Casino on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
Appreciated as both a musician and performer by millions, George Benson has always had the dual role of expert improviser and vibrant entertainer. He has earned himself an impeccable reputation as one of music’s most enterprising and engaging stars.
George Benson was recognized as a child prodigy and at the age of 10 he recorded and released his first single, “She Makes Me Mad.” Over the years he honed his craft as a musician and songwriter, leading his own quartet and playing with jazz greats – Jack McDuff and Miles Davis.
It was Benson’s 1974 album release, Bad Benson, that reached the top spot on the Billboard jazz chart and suddenly the public was taking note of this young jazz artist. However it was his 1976 album Breezin’, with the single “This Masquerade” that propelled him into the stratosphere with the first jazz album to be certified platinum (now 3x platinum) and securing Benson a Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
As an incredible 10 time Grammy Award winner, George has had outstanding success with such songs that have crossed the jazz as, “”Give Me the Night,” “Turn Your Love Around,” and “On Broadway.”
In a recording career that spans almost three decades and 23 albums, Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kenny G has grafted elements of R&B, pop and Latin in a jazz foundation solidifying his reputation as the premiere artist in contemporary jazz.
Since the early 1980’s his combination of superior instrumental skills along with his unforgettable melodies has resulted in sales of more than 75 million records worldwide. It was his sixth album, Breathless, that became the number one best-selling instrumental album ever, with over 15 million copies sold worldwide.
Some of Kenny’s other albums that have achieved platinum and multiple– platinum status include, The Moment, Classics In The Key of G and Miracles:The Holiday Album.
