Welch, Minn. (May 1, 2018) Two legends of rock and heavy metal, Deep Purple and Judas Priest, will co-headline along with support from Temperance Movement and join the robust line up of Treasure Island’s 2018 Summer Concert Series on September 20 with a concert at the new outdoor Treasure Island Amphitheater.
With an ever-increasing fan base thanks to their determination to tour, Deep Purple operates on fresh cycles of adrenalin, not resting on yesteryear. Since 1996, the band has released five studio albums and an abundance of solo work and special projects from all five band members.
Deep Purple is considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern rock along with Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath. The trio of bands is often referred to as the “unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal.”
Fans know their gold and platinum albums; Deep Purple in Rock, Perfect Strangers, Machine Head and live album Made in Japan or their singles “Hush,” “Knocking at Your Back Door,” “King of Dreams,” “Perfect Strangers,” or the unmistakable riffs from “Smoke on the Water.” Fans will be treated to covers of decades of favorites along with new songs from the latest album, Infinite.
Deep Purple will be joined by the leather clad, heavy-metal band from England, Judas Priest. Smoke, pyrotechnics, motorcycles on stage and vicious guitar riffs are what the fans have come to expect from Judas Priest over the years. Their popularity and status as one of the ultimate heavy metal bands has earned them the nickname “Metal Gods.”
The bands list of U.S. platinum certified albums is impressive; British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith and Turbo along with their live album, Unleashed in the East. The band recently released its 18th studio album, Firepower. Within in the first week of the release the album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart making it the band’s highest-charting album ever!
An epic night of heavy-metal legends awaits you here on The Island!
